Develop the skills to launch and manage a successful research career.
Global Fellows is an intensive 5-day program for PhD students jointly offered by MIT and Imperial College London, a science-based institution consistently rated amongst the world's best universities. The 2016 program will be in the London area.
Through presentations, interactive work and hands-on activities, 40 participants (20 each from MIT and Imperial) develop the professional skills required to launch and manage a successful research career. Emphasis is placed on creating and sustaining successful international research collaborations.
Topics covered include:
- Building successful working relationships and collaborations
- Team and project development
- Global intercultural skills and communication
Participants work in small groups with either an MIT or Imperial facilitator. Faculty members from each university present on the topic of developing and managing international collaborations as an integral part of a research career.
Dates and Time Commitment
Dates: June 13-17, 2016
Time: 5 days (Monday - Friday)
- Participants must commit to the entire program, which includes staying on-site for four nights. There are full days of events and some evening events.
- Morning programs will begin at 9:00 am; evening programs should be completed by 9:00 pm.
Location and Cost
Location: For June 2016, the program will be in the UK. (Location varies each year, alternating between the U.S. and the U.K).
Cost: Fellowship covers cost of travel, housing, program and most meals. (Most international students will need to complete a required visa application process. This cost is covered by the student and typically is around $150).
