Find a Job/Internship

Applying to F/ASIP

Before You Apply

F/ASIP is a nine-month commitment from January through September 2012. Students who participate in F/ASIP for the full duration of the program will greatly enhance their self-assessment and career exploration skills, their communication and professional etiquette skills, and their job and internship search skills (a full list of F/ASIP learning outcomes is below). Because F/ASIP can only accommodate a small percentage of the freshman class, however, we look for students who are willing and able to commit to full participation in the program.

Although the amount of time required for seminars and assignments are appropriate for the number of credits students receive, F/ASIP is still a time commitment that requires effort. In addition to the formal requirements of the program, students will need to dedicate time to their internship search.

In light of the information above, we ask that you honestly consider the following before applying to F/ASIP:

  • Am I able to commit to the 9-month program (January-September)? See course requirements in the online application for more information.
  • Am I available to attend a virtual orientation in January?
  • Am I able to commit to attending seven live F/ASIP sessions (1 ½ hours each) between February and April?
  • Am I able to commit to completing assignments on time?
  • Am I in solid standing academically or should I focus my time and effort on my academic courses in the spring semester?
  • Will I communicate with the F/ASIP staff if I have any challenges along the way?
  • Am I willing to dedicate time outside of F/ASIP seminars to my internship search?
  • Will I seek out assistance as I need it with my internship search from the F/ASIP staff and other resources?
