Jobs - Find a Job / Apply to Jobs
Make It Happen: Apply
Once your resume and cover letter are finalized and edited, you are ready to apply. Your resume and cover letter can help you get an interview but networking, negotiating, and interviewing can help you get the job. Check out your next steps:
Submit Your Application
When you submit your resume and cover letter online, send a follow-up email to ensure your resume and cover letter were received. If there is no direct contact information, you may want to talk with someone at the organization by looking up the general phone number on the company website and asking to speak with Human Resources.
Schedule a Mock Interview
Once you have an interview lined up, then practice, practice, and practice. Come in to the Career Development office for a mock interview.
A mock interview is a 30-minute individual session with a Career Development specialist to help you prepare and strategize for future interviews. You will be asked to respond to traditional and behavioral interviewing questions. After the interview, you will get constructive feedback regarding your interviewing style and responses.
Know MIT’s Recruiting Policies and Expectations
Before entering the interview process be sure to know your recruiting Rights and Responsibilities and be aware of the recruiting policies and procedures expected for employers. If you have questions about MIT’s recruiting policies or how to handle a difficult situation with an employer please consult a member of the GECD staff through drop-ins or by making an appointment.
