Find Support for Existing Programs

Global Education provides these services for existing study abroad programs and academic exchanges:

Recruitment
Global Education recruits students through departmental channels and through general events and advertising including information sessions, the Go Global Fair, and posters on campus.

Admissions
The office typically manages the admissions process for the programs in collaboration with the academic departments.

Visa Support for Students
Global Education can assist MIT students with the visa process and coordinate visa paperwork for exchange students coming to MIT from foreign partner universities.

Housing
The office works with MIT Housing to secure residences for incoming exchange students and collaborates with foreign partners to secure housing for MIT students on study abroad programs and exchanges.

Academic Preparation
The office can assist with accessing course information at host universities and with the pre-approval of transfer credit. Global Education works with students and with transfer credit examiners to facilitate pre-approval of transfer credit before students leave MIT. The office can help MIT students with course information on courses abroad and incoming exchange students with choosing MIT courses.

Periodic Program Review
The Global Education office can review the memorandum of agreement and initiate and facilitate period reviews.

Orientation
Organizing pre-departure orientations for MIT students as well as campus orientations for incoming exchange students is also a Global Education service.

Student Advising and Assistance
The office can track students’ academic progress abroad and help with resolving issues that arise during experience abroad.

Welcome-Back Programming and Advising
Global Education can organize welcome-back sessions for program participants and work with students individually to receive their feedback about the study abroad experience and to help them with the transfer credit process.
