In addition to programs run by Global Education and MIT departmental exchanges, there are plenty of other ways you can spend a semester in another country.
Apply Directly to a University Abroad
You can apply directly to some foreign institutions that offer study abroad programs. Apply for a semester or a year at one of these universities, and still graduate from MIT on time:
- l'École Polytechnique in France
- London School of Economics in the UK
- University of New South Wales in Australia
- Tsinghua University in China
To explore your options, schedule an appointment with Global Education.
Apply through an Outside Provider Program
In addition to MIT-managed programs, you can also apply to study abroad programs through other U.S. universities or outsider provider programs.
Study abroad for a semester, a summer, or IAP through the Institute of Study Abroad, Butler University, which offers both short and long-term options throughout the world. The Danish Institute for Study Abroad also offers programs for specific majors.
There are also multi-country programs such as the International Honors Program run by SIT Study Abroad. Examine major social justice and sustainability issues and study on three continents over the course of one semester.
