How do I get started recruiting at MIT?

Please, fill out an employer intake form and a member of the Employer Relations Team will set up a call to discuss your recruiting needs and next steps. You can also review our Plan Your Recruiting page to get started!

Are there any fees associated with on campus interviews/recruiting?

An interview cubicle is in our office is $125 per day. To ensure open access to all employers, there is a cap of 10 rooms per day. For step by step instructions on how to reserve an interview room, please look at the Room Reservations Tipsheet or see the step by step rooms reservation instructions in this FAQ.

What is CareerBridge?

CareerBridge is Career Development’s On- and Off-Campus Recruiting and Career Management system. To reach out to MIT students and Alumni/ae as potential hires, companies post positions through CareerBridge.

What is IAP?

MIT’s Independent Activities Period (IAP) takes place during the month of January and provides members of the MIT community (students, faculty, staff, and alums) with a unique opportunity to organize, sponsor and participate in a wide variety of activities, including how-to sessions, forums, athletic endeavors, lecture series, films, tours, recitals and contests. Some academic courses are also offered during IAP. Visit the IAP site for more information and to view its offerings for the coming January.

How can I get a resume book?

Employers can access the resumes of MIT students who allow their information to be viewed by creating an account in CareerBridge and using the Student Search function. In addition, select career fairs at MIT create resume books. To obtain a copy of the resume book from a particular career fair please contact the organizing student organization directly. A full list of MIT career fairs, including links, is listed on our “Attend a Career Fair” page.

How do I post a job/intership?

  1. Make sure you are allowing POP-UPS on your browser.
  2. Log into CareerBridge.
  3. Mouse over 'Post a Job/Intership'
  4. Click 'New Job/Intership'
  5. Fill out form
  6. Click 'Save'
  7. Submit $30 payment

Note: Your job/internship will automatically be set to "Pending", and will be set to active upon review. (Please allow 24-48 hours for approval.)

How do I get the receipt for my job/internship posting?

  1. Log into CareerBridge
  2. Mouse over 'Post a Job/Internship'
  3. Click 'My Jobs/Internships'
  4. Select the job by clicking the job's ID #
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  6. Click receipt or invoice button

How do I advertise my opportunity/event?

How do I book an info session/presentation?

Our office does not book info sessions/presentations. Please refer directly to the Conference Services website to reserve an info session space: http://web.mit.edu/conferences/www/cpp/cpp_info.html. You can also contact them at co-recruit@mit.edu, or 617-253-1700.

How do I reserve interview rooms?

  1. Make sure you are allowing POP-UPS on your browser.
  2. Log into CareerBridge.
  3. Mouse over ‘My Schedules’ and click on ‘View/Reserve Room Reservations’.
  4. Click ‘Add New Reservation’.
  5. Scroll to the desired month and day(s).
  6. Check for availability
  7. Click ‘Make Reservation’.
  8. Select rooms and click ‘Reserve’.
  9. Fill out payment information and click ‘Submit Payment’.

Note: Your reservation is complete once payment is made. Afterward, you will receive an email with your payment invoice and useful links regarding posting of your job, creation of your schedule, location and travel information and more. Please be patient as high volume can create delays. Also, please be to add careerbridge@mit.edu to your email safe sender list!

How do I cancel an interview room reservation?

  1. Make sure you are allowing POP-UPS on your browser.
  2. Log into CareerBridge.
  3. Mouse over ‘My Schedules’ and click on ‘View/Reserve Room Reservations’.
  4. Click the "Remove" link on the right side of any unpaid room. 

Note: If you need to cancel a room for which you have paid, please email us as soon as possible at careerbridge@mit.edu.

How much money is it for a room at MIT?

How do I create my schedule now that I have interview rooms reserved and approved?

Before beginning, please determine the following:

  • The total length of each interview
    • 30Min, 45Min, 60Min or 90Min (Note that two 30 or 45 minute back to back interviews should be scheduled as one 60 or 90 minute interview)
  • The documents you need from each candidate
    • Resume (Required)
    • Cover Letter
    • Unofficial Transcript
    • Writing Sample 
  • The job description(s)

Create your schedule

  1. Make sure you are allowing POP-UPS on your browser
  2. Log into CareerBridge.
  3. Mouse over ‘Interview On-Campus’ and click on ‘Create New Schedule for my Room(s)’
  4. Select the room(s) you would like to use
  5. Select your desired interview duration from the ‘Interview Session Preference’ pull-down menu (30, 45, 60, or 90 Minutes)
  6. Click ‘Save & Continue’
  7. On the next page, select the job(s) you want to attach or click ‘Add New Job’ to create a position
  8. Once you’ve selected and/or created a job and selected it, choose your desired document categories
  9. Click ‘Save & Continue’
  10. The next page will show a summary
  11. Click ‘Submit Request’ → Click ‘OK’

What is a Schedule? 

In CareerBridge, a "schedule" is formed when a job posting is connected to your On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) interview date(s) room reservation(s). This is not to be confused with a regular Job Posting which is NOT part of OCR.

What are the functions of the tabs in my schedule?

  • POSTING INFORMATION: Edit the job posting here.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Edit your screening criteria here.
  • TIMELINE: View your "timeline" here. (This is where you interview deadlines are located.)

How do I view applicants/resumes for my schedule/upcoming on-campus interview date?

  1. Make sure you are allowing POP-UPS on your browser.
  2. Log into CareerBridge.
  3. Mouse over ‘Interview On-Campus’ and click on ‘My Schedules’, then click on your schedule id number.
  4. In the upper left corner of the next page (under "Page Functions") click ‘Manage Preselects #’.
  5. You may obtain all resumes in one complete packet at any time:
    1. Check the box next to each applicant, or the top most box to select all applicants.
    2. Click ‘Create Packet’ at the bottom of the page and select the email, print, or download option provided on the left.

How do I create, and print, my applicants' resumes?

  1. Mouse over 'Interview On-Campus'
  2. Click 'My Schedules'
  3. Select the Schedule ID#
  4. In the upper left corner, click 'Manage Preselects'
  5. Select all the students by "checking" the topmost box
  6. Click 'Create Packet'

How do I make my preselects?

  1. Mouse over 'Interview On-Campus'
  2. Click 'My Schedules'
  3. Select the Schedule ID#
  4. In the upper left corner, click 'Manage Preselects'
  5. Make your selections
  6. Click 'Save Picks'
  7. Click 'Submit Your Picks' to finalize

How do I select applicants to interview?

  1. Make sure you are allowing POP-UPS on your browser.
  2. Log into CareerBridge.
  3. Mouse over 'Interview On-Campus' and click 'My Schedules', then click on your schedule id number.
  4. In the upper left corner of the next page (under "Page Funtions") click 'Manage Preselects #'.
  5. Mark applicants you want to interview as “accepted”; those you do not as “not accepted”; those you want to interview ONLY if the accepted students decline as “alternates” and click SAVE at the bottom of this page
  6. On the next page, double check your entries and then hit SUBMIT (You must hit the submit button on the final page or else no selections will be permanent.)

Note: Applicants cannot sign up for an interview unless assigned an “accepted” or “alternate” status. In addition, alternates are able to sign after the accepted applicants have had the opportunity to sign up.

How do I view my my time slots/session?

  1. Mouse over 'Interview On-Campus'
  2. Click 'My Schedules'
  3. Select your Schedule ID#(s)
  4. Scroll down the page
  5. Click the Session ID#

What is a Session? 

A "session" is the list of your available TIME SLOTS for one room; multiple rooms allows for multiple sessions. After applicant sign-ups have begun, you can check your session(s) to view how many sessions/time slots have been filled or remain open on your recruiting date.

How do I print my interview day's student resumes?

  1. Mouse over 'Interview On-Campus'
  2. Click 'My Schedules'
  3. Select your Schedule ID#(s)
  4. Scroll down the page
  5. Click the Session ID# or Interview, then scroll down and click on 'Create Packet'
  6. Repeat for multiple sessions

What do I do if I receive an error message when attempting to print student resumes?

  • This means that you have one or more students with a secure document (most likely a transcript) that the system cannot open
  • Click “Download All” to view all resumes

How do I add students to an interview schedule after the CareerBridge deadline?

To add students, send a list of the students to careerbridge@mit.edu with the following information:

  • Last Name
  • First Name
  • Email
  • Desired Schedule

How do I change a student interview time after the CareerBridge deadline?

Please arrange all last minute interview time changes directly with the student(s) to avoid confusion. If changes to the final schedule are necessary, please contact us immediately at careerbridge@mit.edu.
